In this episode, we built our own headsail from a Sailrite kit while being in Mexico. This is not really a tutorial, but mostly to give you a small idea of what it entails to tackle a similar project. After spending 9-10 days building the headsail and making a new sail pack, we have to haul out the boat again to inspect the rudder.

Contact glues you have to use on BOTH fabric sides. The glue bonds to each other. Yours is not sticking because you only put it on one side.

Very informative, thanks for sharing. I am also going to build sails for my small dinghy from scratch. And this will be my first. I am wondering if you can recommend a book on sail design and build.

I'm considering investing in sewing machine and making sails, covers, cushions, etc... this is the first video I watched on DIY, very well done video... will watch your other videos as a result, thanks! One question: Working on my knees like you did would not be feasible for me... have you seen any temp-sail-lofts with tables for rent anywhere? If you built your own table, how big would it have to be?

What was the difference in cost between you guys making the sails, cost of equipment, materials and time and effort as to a sailmaker making them
