It's been such a long way and I'm glad that I can say "no" without hesitation whatsoever now. Also, people that aren't toxic will actually like and respect you more usually if you have healthy boundaries.

i said no to lunch with my mom and she freaked out and said im treating her like shes dead and now shes not going to talk to me anymore because of how bad i am lol. my dad yelled at me for 8 hours about how bad i am because i didnt answer a phone call while jogging and i told him i cant answer every single phone call every time. i see why they picked eachother, they are the same kind of crazy
