Oblique abdomen delivers 10 times the radiation dose required though what was shown has no collimation on a 35x43 so the dose could be much higher, even including primary beam dose to the gonads. Instead of a centering point, use accurate collimation. In Australia it was routine to do oblique lumbar spine on an 18x24cm cassette to show the lower 3 vertebrae and include the SIJ. A colleague said when she was young she was expected to put 2 oblique lumbar spines lengthways down a 24x30cm cassette. Doing an oblique abdomen is dangerous with the dose. Indian patients routinely get massive doses for no reason except poor training that allows no accurate collimation. The xray console shown is absolute primitive rubbish but collimation is still required.
