I met my soulmate in my thirties and, as you say, we met when I least expected. It was a relationship like no other. It was like coming home. Our personalities were different, he was an extrovert, I’m an introvert, and yet we felt as one. In my time with him I grew more than I ever did before. I felt like I could take on the whole world. He wasn’t perfect. Neither am I. He had flaws that I could never have accepted in another man, but in him it those flaws were endearing. He saw through my flaws and helped me to see myself though his eyes. And what he saw in me was a loving, kind, gentle soulmate. And strangely enough, he saw himself though my eyes and what he saw was a loving, kind, gentle soulmate. We often talked about destiny and fate bringing us together.

I used to describe him as the mirror of my soul. We had 17 beautiful years together before sadly, he died. He died suddenly and unexpectedly and when he died it felt as if my soul had been torn out of my body. Its been a hard journey over the past 4 years and 3 months. I chose to be alone because I needed the space to heal. The pain I’ve gone through is unimaginable, but I’ve also grown from the pain, which seems strange.

I’m reaching a good stage just now, learning to accept and love myself without trying to change myself. After all, if I’ve already been loved and accepted as myself by another, why wouldn’t I love and accept myself by myself.

I know our souls will meet again, and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life alone. I know that he knows this.

I live in hope that the universe will bring me towards another soulmate, because I truly believe we can have more than one soulmate in any given lifetime.
