Grain Structure

The grain structure or microstructure of a material can significantly influence its physical properties including mechanical properties such as strength, toughness, ductility, and hardness, as well as other properties such as corrosion and wear resistance. These properties help determine how the material will perform in a given application. In this video, we will explore what is meant by a grain, a grain structure and a grain boundary.
