When you understand how The Good, Better, and Best model works, you will know what tools you should buy from Harbor Freight and which Harbor Freight tools you should avoid. Also your brain will think differently next time you walk down Harbor Freight isles.

I've been a HF customer for many years (long before the 3 categories) and an Inside Track member for almost as long. I've always bought with the mindset of looking at the options and seeing what will fit my need. It used to be that you should be hesitant of anything with a motor or electronics, but that has changed. I still shy away from tools that should have some degree of accuracy. Some will say that "you usually get what you pay for", but there are lots of gems to be found that get the job done more than well enough. - Chris

Been a HF customer for years. Used to be my go-to for disposable tools for one-off projects. Now I'm finding that they have a lot of quality tools, at great prices!

I used to shop in Harbor Freight all the time. Back in the good old days, when they offered 20% off coupons plus free items, like multimeter, ruler and flashlights. Every time i needed to add an item to my new tool collection, I would use those coupons. But recently they stopped those coupons, and my basic tool collection became more complete. I now hardly shop there. I also started comparing prices online. I usually find better prices online now. Like i recently bought a welder on Amazon because it was cheaper or same price than HF and it had more features. Not to forget free shipping. So, I wonder if HF is still as busy as they used to be.

I'll go with the good items for the lower prices tools. Except the drill bits, I go with higher quality bits unless it's just for wood.

Home depot does sorta have a GBB system, Ryobi Rigid Milwaukee are all TTI owned and sold in the same place. But you are right, its not obvious like how HF does it

I've been buying from HF since they were only mail order, at least in Pennsylvania. I actually bought my Ryobi orbital sander (made in the USA too!) from harbor freight back in the mid 1990's.
Generally speaking, their pneumatic nailers are decent. I have 18 and 23 gauge nailers and they have worked well for years. I have a pneumatic twin hammer impact wrench (again bought a long time ago that was made in Japan) that used to be my go to for stubborn fasteners.
Their clamps can't be beat for the price. I have several of the aluminum bar clamps for panel glue ups... Works great. They aren't going to clamp wood that's bent like a pretzel but shouldn't be using them like that either.
I would stay away from some of their measuring tools. Have had issues with squares in the past.

It's _not_ just Harbor Freight. TTI does this too, Ryobi, Ridgid, Milwaukee. Good, Better, Best. All available at the same stores.

Only issue.... sometimes it turns on them and becomes financially unviable then you see these big stores crash... Sure doesn't affect a small grade buyer...but jobs, huge empty properties ..etc etc.
One thing I really don't understand is how I believe Best Buy backs up items for breakage... e.g. many of my buddies have bought go pros, gone flying their quad that weekend, crashed and broken it then just gone back and they replace it.

The best thing about HF, is when you need a specialized tool for a ONE TIME job. Use it, fix your project, and toss the tool into the box, never to be seen again! Spent 1/10th the price of the "big name" specific tool, and did NOT feel the pain in the wallet!

Ive tried since the Bauer deal started to get that deal at any store in my area and the only item I want is not available, I contacted HF about it they said I can get a raincheck so I traveled 60 miles to the store and they told me the raincheck is only good for 30 days LOL what a Fkn JOKE....still they dont have the item....im DONE with HF

You are full of it. I have milwaukee tool;s used hard for 30+ years The stuff I bought at HF did not last the first use. and sears had home owners sears and sears industrial. were very reasonable and were very good tools. And HF their top end is more money than the good stuff.
