Matt, you are tremendous!!
I turned 80, walk with a cane and realize I can be a target at any moment in public !!
Many decades ago I took Karate classes, but most of those techniques are beyond me at my age!! (Well, truthfully in a street fight Karate isn’t much help unless being a 10th degree black belt!!
While your training moves are STELLAR!!
Keep up your so valuable lessons !!!

We learned this in high school 45 years ago, it is a great tip. I've only used it once, but it stopped the threat quickly.

Thanks Matt. I just found your channel. I'm 62 with health problems and it's hard to find self-defense advice for senior 's. Excellent video.

Good stuff but hitting the edge of the pad would better simulate the throat if it were held horizontally rather than vertically. Just a thought

Matt — thank you for sharing these excellent techniques and great advice. I've been doing martial arts for 55 years and am in my 70's. I am teaching a free self defense course in Brooklyn, and your videos help to remind me that simplicity, decisiveness and sharp technique are the some of the most important things we can teach to students. These techniques are perfect for seniors (like me), but of course, they're great for anyone to use. I can't thank you enough — you are awesome!

Excellent. Good to reminder about a good possible strike on any threat from another human or even many animals. Practice makes perfect! Thanks for the reminder!

Great fight stopper techniques, but needs be noted that the throat strike could lead to death. Explaining "reasonable force" in court could prove tricky. Wind pipe is very delicate. The "L technique" is most probably the one to use. Many defense in court could argue that a closed fist showed more intent/anger on your part. An open hand technique shows more control toward reasonable force. Either way, yes, throat strike is hugely effective. Just be prepared to explain your actions in a court of law. Don't wanna get jail time for doing someone in.

Well said! Thank you!

This is good Matt, but I'm surprised you didn't demonstrate a Knife Hand or Ridge Hand from an off-centered position. Anyway, thank you for this.

I also like the half fist strike. Effective for the adams apple, nose or bridge of nose/eyes. A lot of concentrated power in a small half fist ✊ Age 70 senior here, trained in Kempo and GoJu in the younger years. Subscribed, thanks 🙏.

Thank you for helping our seniors. I believe most of this would also greatly benefit females.
