MATLAB Meets Arduino UNO - Arduino LiveCast S03E04

In this video, David shows three different ways to get MATLAB and Arduino to communicate with one another: plain serial port communication, with the MATLAB HW add-on (pretty much like a Firmatta on steroids), and with the Simulink HW add-on (which allows you creating models with blocks and upload them to the board). You can use any AVR board and some of the ARM ones to replicate these experiments.

Note: This video is an extract of one of David's PhD courses in advanced technologies and electronics for instrumentation made together with LTU in Sweden.

I have a project that needs arduino to control the webcam by having it snap a photo when the proximity sensor connected to the arduino has sensed an object within its range. however, I must use matlab to display the webcam's view and from there, an image will be created and saved. how can i use matlab and arduino to do and I have already done the video streaming on matlab, i just want arduino to communicate with matlab by saying(not literally) "hey, I sensed something via the proximity sensor (not pir), i want you to capture it and save it"

Mark could u tell me please the way? This is for my last project to get mechanical engineering bachelor degree.

Didn't you allready have the "Serialport" Commands?
Or are there going to be any soon?
