I paid £275 for this Core I7 2600K / GTX 970 gaming PC. The problem is, it has suffered some damage during delivery. So how bad is it and is it easy to repair, or can we find a temporary solution to get this old beast play games again?

Thanks for watching :)

Thus reminding us all. If you ship a pc you either need to use expanding foam airbags inside the case or remove the graphics card and ship it individually packed. PCIe brackets are already under a ton of stress getting jostled around with no support is bound to cause issues. The fact it doesn't more often is a miracle.

I had a FedEx employee tell me (as I was dropping a package off to be shipped) that electronic items should be packed to survive a ten foot fall onto concrete. I said, "I have an idea. Why don't y'all just not drop my package ten feet onto concrete?" He looked at me as if to say, "Now, that's just crazy talk!"

At least you GOT your package. Things are moving so slow in the US lately that I might as well drive my mail around myself!
Edit: Yeah, I am getting salty lately!

An older video of yours inspired me to build my first PC, which I've been using for a month or so now. i5-750, 8GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770. Not the flashiest, but runs absolutely fine for me. Mostly it's the satisfaction I get from knowing how all this stuff works now and being able to do it myself lol

Practice soldering a new pci-e slot on the board.

970+2600k is the exact set up I had before I got a 2700x. Cool.

I gave my friend an i7-2600k/GTX 770 gaming rig, and I've been shocked at the number of games it's been able to handle. I basically gave it to him as a way to enter PC gaming, but he's somehow played a ton of games I didn't think would run on it.

Ah yes, PC hardware I cannot afford. I always enjoy watching these test videos anything you test. It helps me getting through high GPU prices times and dreaming about similar performance with my old GTX860M laptop while I finally get a job. Cheers!

This is why you never ship a system with the GPU installed if you can possibly avoid it, and if you can't avoid it you need to pad or support it.

pcie 2.0 x16 = pcie 3.0 x8 which means a 2.0 x8 = 3.0 x4. I dont know how low you need to go on the gpu for that not to matter, but i can confirm that my overclocked 2080 super on water is within 1% of 3.0 x16 when running 3.0 x8. So i guess a 970 would run very close to its max potential even on a 2.0 x8.

Just de-solder and re-solder a new slot. Both CPC and Farnell in UK hold stock.

I've still got three Core i7-2600 machines as well as an i7-2600K machine that are all still running beautifully. One is my file and Plex server, another is a VM host, another is a secondary office PC/gaming machine (paired with a 4GB RX 570), and the fourth is a living room gaming PC/media PC. Great CPUs, and they're still holding up very well. The Core i5-2400 still does alright as well, though it only has four threads to work with.

I'm actually after a cheap LGA1155 board after being given an i7 2600 :)

I made a lovely white themed build for a video, sold it on eBay, packaged it carefully with bubble wrap inside the case, and DHL still managed to knacker it in transit. I don't like being one of those people who insist on local pickup, but it does make one lose faith in shipping services.
