This is AutoAcademics' review of the 2014 Scion FR-S. Light weight, room for two, and good handling make this an honest to goodness sports car. And best of all, you don't need to be an Executive to buy one.

This car was made for me! I test drove a blue one and fell madly in love with *sigh*

That-being-said, it could use some more torque, and...an armrest, but these matters are easily remedied!

I hate to be the person to point out a mistake on a video that I really liked, but you mentioned at 3:30 "Toyota's 2.0L boxer engine that was co-developed with Subaru". From everything I've seen on the power train it's Subaru's engine entirely straight out of the forester, but with TRD (Toyota) port injectors, the combination = great. I can see how easy of a mistake it is the block says Toyota and Subaru but the badge on the car says Scion. again just trying to inform what I've heard not just pointing out a mistake, But great video!

I hate how people call the frs/brz/gt86 not a true sports car, just because it lacks power. And then compare it to cars such as the s2000/ Nissan z series/and so on. What defines what a sports car is? Better yet define the word sport- an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Now let's define car - a road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine and able to carry a small number of people. Now let's define sports car - a low-built car designed for performance at high speeds.
Now where in that definition does it say the sports car has to be high horsepower? It doesn't what it defines is a car that performs well at high speeds, which and frs/brz/gt86 is capable of. Regardless of how much "power it has in stock version.
Your blurred idea of what a sports car is, is like saying golf isn't a a sport because it doesn't require the same extreme physical effort like perhaps hockey/football, tennis does. Which we all know golf is a sport, a sport that is also played on a professional level as well as a fun level, just as hockey/football/tennis is.
I rest my case.

Outstanding product by Toyota!.  An affordable quality and fun to drive sports car with a beautiful design.  I'm purchasing a 2015 model soon.  Thank you for sharing this video!.

not an "inline 4" .. It is a horizontally opposed 4 cyl boxer motor.

finally a video that shows a carseat!

well it fits, so my kid's gonna have to fit :D
in all seriousness, I'd just move the copilot seat forward a bit.

I did owned one of those back when they hit the market in 2013, boy did i loved that car! Now 4 years later i regret getting rid of it😢 but had no choice! Since it snows here in Chicago, is not suitable to drive in the ice and snow. Coundnt afford a second car, so had to trade it for a jeep wrangler. I do like the jeep! But i had way more enjoyable driving in the frs, i keep saying myself someday i'll get a good used one again. It was a fun little sports car😎👍

one hting i really like about the frs is how big the engine bay is so if you wanted to you could throw in a ls3 or something like that

Excellent review, and thanks for showing the car seat in the back. I got a 2 year old son and another one on the way. I think this is still an option, cause I want a rear wheel drive sports coupe.

Thanks for the great review. I have a 2014 frs, automatic transmission and I LOVE it. My previous car was a 2010 Miata. That car seemed sort of cheap and 'tinny' with a shitty sound system compared to my frs.

now this is a car i would love to put payments in, but since im about to have a child i think i will just keep my 06 dodge durango with 118K miles (paid off) and 2004 4x4 Ford explorer (paid off), i work on my own cars, meaning i can keep a car longer :P

I don't know how I missed the FR-S was a 2+2, until your video. I had totally written it off because I thought it was a two-seater. I love to take the kids to car shows and rallies, so I can add it to the list of cars to test drive during my week off. :) Also, great review, well revealed.
