I think an underestimated moment in Ron's early years is how he was able to resist the mirror or erised.
Dumbledore told Harry how hard it is for grown men to resist the temptations of the mirror, yet Ron, who was showed his deepest desire of outshining his siblings, still had enough emotional maturity to recognise that the mirror was potentially dangerous when he tried to convince Harry not to return to it. He's much smarter than given credit for.

Ron is underrated in the movies.
Anyone who has read the books would know that in the movie, he's pushed into corners by Harry and Hermoine.
But he's an amazing, brave character who is by Harry and Hermoine 's sides through thick and thin.
I stand up for the real Ron Weasley.

He's my favourite character...he was kind, funny and always stood up for his friends. He welcomed Harry and Hermione into his family and cared for them even though his family was poor. Even though he was overshadowed by his brothers most of his life, at school he still supported Harry in quidditch and always praised Hermione's intelligence. It makes me so angry that the movies made Ron out to be a sidekick... He bought most of the humour in the books and was the literal heart of their group...

Honestly facts. Book Ron was there for Harry no matter what was happening in his life. The movies basically gave all of Ron’s good traits to Hermione. Glad this video did my boy Ronald Billius Weasley justice ✊🏽

Ron is by far the most relatable character. He feels like such an underdog all the time. Undeserving or love and attention, unworthy. But Harry chose his friendship over everyone else's. Time and time again Ron proved he was worthy of his friendship. His loyalty to Harry was unshakeable. He suffered with him. Lost his brother and nearly his own life all for Harry's cause. When Harry was ready to give up he kept pushing him. And after seven years since their first meeting on the train to hogwarts he proudly stood by his side and faced Voldimort. Ron was a true Gryfinndor. Loyal, brave and true.

This shows that Ron is more pure-hearted than Harry and Hermione. Because since they all took turns wearing the locket it will affect the most pure-hearted person and that was Ron.

I hate how dirty the films did Ron Weasley. In the books, he was defined as being compassionate and always there for Harry, but occasionally got jealous after living in his shadow for so long. He was believable and nuanced. In the films, a lot of Ron's achievements end up going to Hermoine. It's very clear how much the films favored Hermoine over Ron. In the books, Hermoine also had flaws such as being shy in bossy. But in the films, she's very confident and powerful, and I can't even think of any character flaws the movie Hermoine had. The screenwriter for the majority of the films, Steve Kloves, admitted to favoring Hermoine over Ron. This is okay, we all have favorites, but Steve Klovis built up Hermoine by tearing down Ron.

Rowlings' character of Ron has always been the one that impressed me the most as he always had more against him personally, and had more serious internal demons than anyone else. He was always proving himself stronger in his compassion for others over his own self-view. While it's true that Harry grew up unloved, Ron had a worse time of it because he grew up in a loving household, but always got lost among the crowd of family. Even Harry was seen by his parents over himself and Ron never thought about how wrong that was. I've known a few Rons in my life and have always been impressed at their strength of character. Thank you for going over this amazing character!
