My favorite part about this scene is that he loves their passion, he just wants them to use it the right way. All of our qualities can honor God, but leave it to our fallen nature to dishonor Him 😶

I love how in Mark 3:17 Jesus named them" sons of thunder", But as You keep reading you don't know why he called them that, then this scene happens in Luke 9:51-56 and it all conects. I love it.

One of my favourite scenes because the way Jesus tells them off like a loving Father would discipline his kids.

I like how they show the different disciples failures and personalities. This was a good rebuke- you felt the shame and His love.

They were like a storm on the sea, yet God used them for great things. The passion in their hearts just needed aimed in the right direction. God's forgiveness, mercy, patience, and loving kindness all displayed so beautifully in this scene.

Didn't reject them, corrected them, forgave them, moved on - all in relationship. THAT and the fear of the Lord is what brings us to repentance.

This is Jesus' way of telling Big James and John to *GROW UP*. Great scene!

Repentance, when rebuked by Christ, is the only way to receive restoration from Him. As soon as James and John humbled themselves, Jesus raised them up and gave them their name.

How quickly we forget the teachings of Jesus and let our emotions take over. Oh, to have Him physically there beside us to hold us back. I love when Jesus says, "you would have used the power of God to bring down fire on them all because you don't like them?" We are no better then they if we return hate for hate.

I loved this part. Jesus was always teaching! Sometimes he must look at us and just shake his head. But he always explains if we are listening. I think the key is are we really listening? These examples are so good from our Father.
