This is the PART 1 of how to work with JSON data in SQL Server where I talk about parsing JSON using built in functions like ISJSON, JSON_VALUE, JSON_QUERY and JSON_MODIFY. This JSON tutorial also includes live demo where I demonstrate the utility of each JSON function and cover all aspects about it. This video is for database developers and database administrators who are new to JSON and its use in SQL Server. It will also help aspiring data engineers get familiar with JSON and many of its use cases.

Since JSON is the most popular data exchange format these days and is widely used in big data applications, It is no surprise that it has also found its place in the relational database systems like SQL Server. Microsoft added its support since 2016 and provided built in functions like ISJSON, JSON_VALUE, JSON_QUERY and JSON_MODIFY to help parse complex nested JSONs and extract useful information from it. Hence it is important for SQL Server professionals to learn JSON skills and be able to apply them when needed.
