To skip the opening credits, the song starts at 0:24 ~ "Beep Beep" is a song by The Playmates. Released in 1958. The song describes a duel between the drivers of a Cadillac and a Nash Rambler on the road. The song was on the Billboard Top 40 charts for twelve weeks and peaked at #20 ( I've since been told it peaked at #4, my mistake ). It sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold disc. Concurrently with this song, American Motors (AMC) was setting production and sales records for the Rambler models.
The Playmates were a late 1950s vocal group, led by the pianist Chic Hetti (born Carl Cicchetti, 26 February 1930), drummer; Donny Conn (born Donald Claps, 29 March 1930); and Morey Carr (born 31 July 1932), all from Waterbury, Connecticut.~ From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The cartoon was created from scanned drawings using older programs. Windows XP on a Dell computer from 2006, Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft paint, MGI PhotoSuite III SE, The Print Shop 6.0 and a program from Paint Net.
I like Cadillacs. Really, it's just a song. When I was a kid I owned a Rambler a lot like this one. I loved it...

Grandmother's sister had a Nash that she drove for years. My dad was strictly a Cadillac guy. You can't believe how many times this song was played at family parties. Awesome memories!

My husband and I went on a 22-hour trip and our 6-year old wanted him to sing this over and over. She loved it!

For those who missed it. Post war ( Early 1950's) Nash Rambler cars had a three speed gear shifter on the steering column. They were known for getting stuck in gear and between gears. That is the wink to reality for the back story behind the catchy Playmates song. The man in the Rambler was trying to get attention for the help.

Fun story- this song saved my dad’s life. His landlord was in this band and tragically died of alcoholism related conditions. My dad was also an alcoholic/addict and when he started recovery, he was going through a dark time in life and was about to relapse when this song came on the radio. He claims that it was his landlord’s ghost warning him not to do it.

1957-1958-1959 Drag racing was in it’s infancy in Alberta Canada. A person could walk into a car dealership, buy a new car, drive to the drag strip, remove the air cleaner, spare tire, bumper jack, hub caps and go drag racing. My father was the NASH HUDSON Rambler dealer. I had a 1957 Rambler, 327 cubic inch engine, std transmission ( three on the tree ) naturally aspirated ( carbureted) daily drive. On weekends I was at the drag races. Three consecutive years, I won the provincial championship for FASTEST STOCK CAR. I still retain that trophy. Dad had a 1957 RAMBLER REBEL, Rochester fuel injection, classed as SUPER STOCK.

I had a 1960 Nash Rambler, drove it for years. Probably the best car I’ve ever owned.

I remember being at an antique car show on Marco Island (FL) in 2014 and somebody had a Nash Rambler on display. There was also a deejay spinning oldies, and eventually somebody requested 'Beep Beep' and the Nash's owner would honk his horn whenever the 'beep beep' sounded in the song. It was hilarious!

This song is so much fun at the drive in. We still have one where we live and they play this song before every movie. All the kids honk the horn at the BEEP BEEP!! Our kids love it!!

My siblings and i would start ever so slowly circling the coffee table, and by the end we were exhausted or injured as we sped around the coffee table and collapsed with laughter.

My dad sang this to me when I was little. I'm 71 now and my dad's been gone since 2021 at 95. He had a song for every occasion! My 4yesr old granddaughter just had her 1st piece of gum and I remembered this song. So I looked it up and found this for her to listen to. She laughed and asked me to sing it to her again. Thanks.

My grandmother would play this song every time we went on a road trip. Now it’s just a happy core memory.

Many years ago, when I was 18, I had a '66 Rambler Classic. By then, Nash had become part of American Motors. However, that car still had the Nash seats, where the front seat back dropped down to make a bed. 🙂

When I was a kid back in the 60's, me and my siblings would play this song while walking around th3 coffee table. Going faster and faster as the song sped up. Now, as a grandfather, I've introduced my grandkids to this song. I put them in a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe and push them while playing this song. We circle from the living room through the kitchen, going faster and faster as the song speeds up. As much fun as they have, I think I enjoy it even more!!

This was a huge hit when I was 15 - hard to believe that it has been that long! I 'm now 77 and love this song as much as I did then, except there are no Ramblers anymore. I had a 65 Rambler 2 door sedan, top speed 90 MPH downhill with a tailwind. Also bought this record in '58 - Don't have the car, but I still have the record in 2020.

One of the earliest, and most enduring songs I have remembered for over 60 years now! A classic! A novelty number! A great piece of Americana! And, one of the greatest 'car' songs you will ever hear on the radio--Oldies stations most likely! Love it as much in 2020, as I did in 1958! It first charted on Billboard's Hot 100 in Nov. 1958, and peaked at #4, selling a million copies, earning a gold disc.

I always loved how the song got faster and faster, as the driver in the song sped up. Even at 8 years old, this was not lost on me.

This afternoon saw a 1960 Little Nash Rambler and sang the owner of the car this song. I'm 80 and the man had never heard the song before so we had an interesting conversation about his car and the song.
