Σοκ σε όλους όσους πιστεύουν ότι η κατάληψη του Μπαχμούτ, από τις ρωσικές ένοπλες δυνάμεις, είναι ζήτημα ωρών ή ημερών, προκάλεσαν οι σημερινές δηλώσεις του Γιεβγκένι Πριγκόζιν, του επικεφαλής της ρωσικής μισθοφορικής ομάδας Wagner, ο οποίος σύμφωνα με ρωσικό μέσο ενημέρωσης, ευρισκόμενος σε κατάσταση συναισθηματικής φόρτισης, είπε ότι δεν μπορεί να καταληφθεί το αμέσως επόμενο χρονικό διάστημα, προσγειώνοντας απότομα τους υπεραισιόδοξους, αιτιολογώντας αυτή τη δήλωση του, λέγοντας πως ο λόγος είναι ότι οι Ουκρανοί εθνικιστές, προσεγγίζουν την πόλη από όλες τις κατευθύνσεις και ότι το καθεστώς του Κιέβου, στέλνει καθημερινά εκεί, 300 με 500 μαχητές, τους οποίους και αποκάλεσε ως "φρέσκο κρέας".
Προειδοποίησε μάλιστα να μην υπάρχουν πανηγυρισμοί, καθώς όπως είπε αυτή τη στιγμή στο Μπαχμούτ, βρίσκονται σε εξέλιξη οι σκληρότερες μάχες, από τις οποίες οι δυσκολότερες, διεξάγονται κυρίως στα βόρεια της πόλης, όπου και δεν έχουν ακόμα μέχρι σήμερα δημιουργηθεί οι προϋποθέσεις, ώστε να περικυκλωθεί ο εχθρός.
