The bat always looked like a twig in Winfields hands. He looked like a linebacker or defensive end.

Description is wrong. The double gave the Blue Jays a 4-2 lead. The final score was 4-3.

Can't blame Leibrandt for this one - if Pendleton had been guarding the line this is a routine groundout and the inning is over. He was only in because Cox had already burned Smith, Stanton and Wohlers and his only other option was Reardon, who had gotten shelled in this series. Winfield has even said he was stunned that Pendleton was not guarding the line considering he was more likely to pull an off-speed lefty.

Awful managing have the 3rd baseman off the line in extra innings

A decade after the seagull incident... all's forgiven.

Liebrandt had the worst luck in the playoffs I ever saw:

1985 ALCS: Loses 1-0 in 9th against the Blue Jays on a Lloyd Moseby double
1985 WS: Lost 2-0 lead to the Cardinals on a double by Terry Pendleton in Game 1 or 2 (I forget which) then gave up a run that almost won the WS for the Cardinals in a 0-0 tie on a Brian Harper single on Game 6.

And this.

I was so happy that Toronto won it all in 1992.
