"I can't tell enemies and potted plants apart"

I guess that's why this channel is called "SNESdrunk"

To be fair, that was a Nazi potted plant. As in, you could Nazi if it was a potted plant or a soldier.

Trivia: id programmed the SNES version themselves, because the guy who was supposed to do it just didn't deliver in time. So id paused their work on Doom for three weeks right in the middle of Doom's development to bash out a SNES port of Wolf3D.

"MechWarrior looks alright and it's a first person shooter!" But it doesn't have to render walls. Anyone who's ever had to render walls on underpowered hardware can tell you that takes an assload of time.

It's like being the most short sighted FPS character ever, maybe there was an easter egg so you could put some glasses and everything became clear

For some reason the SNES port of Wolfenstein 3D got quite a bit of hype in my elementary school, despite nobody there having played it. Many had played the DOS release of DOOM, but the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D was still some kind of mysterious holy grail to be worshiped.

There's a talk at GDC by the creators of this game about how they made the SNES port in only a few months. It's pretty awesome.

Hey man, thank you for these. My country is in crisis and I'm going out there every day helping protestors survive and getting shot by the police. When I come back home, I just get in the bathtub with a cup of tea and watch some of your videos to relax. And you help me. So thank you, really.

I had Wolfenstein on the Snes as a kid in the 90’s. Its the only thing I had. Believe it or not, I completed the game on the Snes.

I remember seeing Wolfenstein 3D on my mom's friend's PC when I was a kid and being completely blown away. Then when I read about it in Nintendo Power, it was an instant buy for me as soon as it was released. We didn't have a computer powerful enough to run Wolfenstein so this was the next best thing for me and I played this thing all the way through. There's no way I'd ever revisit this version again, but at the time I was happy with it. Not nearly as unplayable as SNES Doom which I ended up taking back to the store for a refund.

Rodents of unusual size? Inconceivable!

There's a very impressive homebrew version of this game for the Sega Genesis, also done without any kind of coprocessor / helper chip.

I had never gotten into this port before. I'm so glad I had a 386 as a kid!

1. Looks at title
2. Yells "HELL NO!"
3. Still proceeds to watch video
4. Leaves thumbs up and comment.
The end.

I've taken a more forgiving stance on this port in recent years. The original game engine needed a processor that ran at a clock speed of at least 33mhz, to run smoothly. This port manages to run fairly smooth on a system with a processor clock speed that's roughly one tenth of that. From a technical standpoint, this port was well done.

Always considered you my favorite channel, but you solidified it with a princess bride reference in a video about a snes game. That’s everything I hold dear
