I can't overstate how comforting these videos are to me. These last 2 weeks i've had so much stuff to do at home, and I can just relax while doing my stuff with weird history in the background. Their voices are such a pleasure to listen to, the jokes always land and everything i get to learn about is legitimately so interesting. This is my favorite channel by far! Love you guys!

Im sure this has been said many times in the individual videos this compilation is made of:

Its not that Americans dont want to go out to eat, but many in the sub 40y/o category have grown tired of chains.

If you're gonna spend $20-25, why not go to your local joint that actually cares about its food.

We have several great local restaurants here in my city that blow the chainsnout of the water! Their prices are either cheaper or relatively close, but the service and quality is 100 steps above.

I have a weird personal thing regarding fuddruckers. My dad was always a super... rigid person. Wasnt a very fun guy typically, was almost always serious and hated cussing and most jokes. When we came to california from chicago, we stayed at a hotel in rancho Cucamonga until the house was fully transfered under my fathers name. During this month, i had never been to california before and it has very different restaurants and stores from chicago, i grew up on portillos and mcdonalds but now im seeing jack in the box, carls jr, in n out, etc. We had baja fresh and i got sick, for thanksgiving we hadnt prepared anything so we were kinda outta luck for food and had to live off gas station snacks (we didnt know about ampm at the time lmao). JUST before we finalized the move to the house, my dad takes us out to eat and has a totally different demeanor. Hes a mexican immigrant and still has a thick accent, and had trouble saying the name of this restaurant he just discovered and enjoyed. He invited us out to "Fuckers" and busted out laughing, and i was baffled, my mom was laughing, my brother was giggling. That alone was memorable for me, but the experience in fuddruckers was totally different too, you got to build your own burger and the portions were VERY good. The restaurant was always clean and the food usually came fairly quickly, id have been a regular if i lived closer to it. I was really sad when the Fuddruckers in Rancho Cucamonga closed, i feel like that was the first time i saw my dad open up and stop being a prude in front of his kids, hes a much more fun guy now and a lot sillier, i cant help but feel i have Fuddruckers to thank for that

Whats sad is that chain restaurants are still popular overseas in other countries. it feels like America has given up on eating out due to rising prices and lower quality food. A sign of the times, I guess.

I never would have guessed that olive garden sent cooks to Italy for microwaving classes.

I liked the very subtle Animaniacs call back with the map names

Fuddruckers was great! You dress your own burger with a large choice of things which I find very important. Not a cheap burger, but it was way better than average and their fries were just right.

As expensive as fast food has gotten and as quality has dropped, some of these "sit down" restaurants have been busy lately. I can sitdown at Tumbleweed and have a nice experience with great food for roughly the same price as a Big Mac meal at McDonalds, and that includes a nice tip for the Wait Staff, just my opinion

This is amazing! I ate at Fuddruckers in August and I loved them as a kid.

We still have Denny's and Outback Steakhouse, and I had a Fuddrucker's until last year when it closed for good. I can't imagine eating a bloomin' onion.... the very idea makes my cholesterol and sugar level goes through the roof!! I doubt there's much I can eat at most chain restaurants; their food isn't exactly diabetic friendly; That's something ALLl chain restaurants need to work on!!🙏🙏🙏
Our Red Lobster closed too...

When the economy is good, restaurants do good they don’t close. In the early 2000s the economy was booming and so were restaurants

Gotta hand it to Denny's, when faced with the discrimination accusations, they didn't just pretend to step up, they DID step up. Maybe some of it was for surface reasons, but if it was just for surface and reputation reasons I don't think they would have gone as far as they did to try and catch legitimate discrimination in the restaurants. Major applause to the higher ups there, they did more than most corporations would have in that situation to make it right.

I used to love Cracker Barrel. Since the pandemic it has been awful. The menu was a fraction of what they had before. Many of the items were no longer available.Their mac and cheese, which used to be so good was awful, clearly made on the stove top instead of being baked. Vegetarian options were more or less nonexistent unless you wanted a salad.
