"STAYED TUNED for my One-on-One Interview with the Great Ed Cherry COMING SOON!

THANK YOU to all my great viewers for your wonderful support! My recent LIVE videos with ED CHERRY @ Zinc Bar were so overwhelmingly well received, I just had to SEEK OUT Ed himself and keep this Party Rollin'!

"All Blues" was composed by Miles Davis and first appeared on the highly influential 1959 album "Kind of Blue". It's a basic twelve-bar blues made up entirely of seventh chords. What sets it apart is it is in 6/8, and the difference is a ♭VI is used in the turnaround instead of just the usual V chord.

This time Ed had his amazing Trio of Eric Wheeler on Double Bass, and Anwar Marshall on drums.

Ed Cherry is a legendary jazz guitarist known for his work with Dizzy Gillespie from 1978 to 1992, and for his own recordings and projects as a band leader since that time. He is widely known as for his melodicism, exuding a deep expressiveness on the guitar attributed to great singers such as Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and Frank Sinatra.

It was a fabulous performance the entire night with fantastic musicianship from all and a great vibe!

This is the 60th installment of my "Great Performances" series, where I upload my own personal LIVE footage from past concerts of great musical artists I've covered either through written articles and/or direct interviews.

The Ed Cherry Trio is:

Ed Cherry - Guitar
Eric Wheeler- Upright Bass
Anwar Marshall - Drums

You can check out my article in The Village View about the great show at Zinc bar with 3 jazz guitar legends on 4/29/24: Pasquale Grasso, Rodney Jones, and Ed Cherry . The 🔗 to my Village View article is now HERE.

Also I may be writing another article about this Mezzrow performance that I will post here next month. Stay tuned.

Killin’! With all the unbridled virtuosity on YouTube, this kind of thoughtful and groovy music is sorely missed. Ed has the perfect balance of everything a musician and listener wants.

Alot of Wes Montgomery feel and soul in Ed's playing.

I have only become aware of Ed within the last month, and boy am I glad that I did! I seem to remember seeing a guy playing a Stratocaster with Dizzy on the TV back in the late 70’s or early 80’s. Was that Ed?

Thank you Eric Wheeler for not going to the IV chord in the head!
