I think its about those people that you love, and you watch as the world wears them down. It hurts and takes your breath away, hoping they will escape and be alright. The gentle encouragement she gives is when the water is rising to the point where it is about to overwhelm you, you stand firm like an island surrounded by an angry ocean. You are surrounded, but you stand firm and rise just enough above so you arent overtaken.
