Great information, Julie. I remember being so concerned with chapter lengths, chapter title lengths, margin sizes and so many other things when I wrote my book. I spent a lot of time at bookstores looking to see what other authors did.

Perfect video given that we finished chapter 4 yesterday. You hit every point that your writer and I have discussed. Great work.

About chapter lenghts, i love to read books and don’t mind long chapters so i kinda don’t know when to stop, mostly i do too short, cause i did 2 pages and i was thinking if that was too short for chapter 1

I always go by feeling.
If a chapter feels done, then it feels done. I cant even explain how that works. 😂
My chapters always vary between 15 and 25 pages. I jump from character to character and tell what they are doing. And every time it feels like an overall story arc is completed, I start a new chapter. Its more a feel thing than a think thing. 😂

This is an important topic for first-time authors. I did use a developmental editor, but it still could have been better if I understood the topic as you explain here, better. Nice video, as usual, Julie!

I think that chapter breaks give a reader a psychological break and allow for a move to a new headspace for the next chapter. I find them more enjoyable than long chapters with multiple subheadings in the chapter.

Thank you for the excellent advice. I definitely need this because whenever I try to create a poetry book I start worrying about issues like do I have enough pages in this chapter or is this chapter too big.

Usually the songs on an album are the result of an artist's creations during a season of life. This means the songs can all speak to a similar set of themes, ideas and topics. So the aim of an album name is to try and sum up the big story/concept that all the songs pull from when they were written. It's not always like these, especially today. But traditionally, an album is like a "book" with the songs inside being like "chapters." It is a cohesive collection of songs used to tell a bigger theme or project an overall vibe. Think of an album as a book. And your songs as chapters.
Every book has chapters. Every album has songs.
Each chapter is different. Each song is different.
But the collection of chapters (the collection of songs) is what tells the full story of the book (of the album). 💿 Mini book 📕 📖 📚 chapter book 📕 📖 📚 full book 📕 📖 📚 are the same but in general albums 💿 are a book 📕 📖 📚.

Hi Julie! Great content! Quick note - your 7 Steps... site is not working still. I tried it last week and today and it keeps looping and looping (the circular arrow keeps going and going).
