Assignment 03 Description:
Detailed description:
The original Artist, Laura Becker, talks about showing a perspective that is typically overlooked. My goal was to incorporate her original meaning in my video. My original idea was to use the found image taken by Laura Becker as my background and for my subject to first walk into Frame and then disappear into the crack in the wall but then reappear on one side of the video and get confused because they were just there. Then I had the idea that the subject would go through the crack in the wall multiple times get progressively more frustrated and finally the subject would continue through the frame not entering the crack in the wall and finally ending the loop. My finished project is slightly different from the one I intended to create but I think it still conveys the same meaning.
The finished project starts off with clips of my subject being happy and walking one way after emerging from the crack in the picture. Slowly my subject gets less enthusiastic and seems to not be as happy as they once were. Finally, the subject finds a new perspective on life which is symbolized by choosing a different path to exit the frame. I think the subject’s solution to stopping the loop of not enjoying life being a simple one that they just keep overlooking ties in with her original meaning about perspectives that are overlooked. Sound wise I used sounds we recorded from the actions of my subject and I later went in and added sounds like footsteps.
