Angus Young Tone Live Donington 1991 - Amplitube 3 - Settings

My attempt to replicate the tone Angus has at donington 1991. Instead of the usual Marshall Angus used a Mesa rack unit and hence the sound he gets is more distorted and fizzy (in a good way).

Equipment: 2014 Gibson SG Standard and I forgo my JMP for the excellent Amplitube 3.

This is absolutely not Angus' Donington tone! You are wrong with the settings.

Pretty solid tone you got so far. I'd try making more of the standard Mesa V shape with the eq sliders (boosting a bit more 80 and 6600 and notching out a bit of 750) and then messing around more with the mics. I can hear the shrillness of the 57 angled straight at the Center of the speaker, so experiment blending different mics together and possibly moving that 57 a bit closer to the edge of the speaker.

Tone Donington is very distorted...it is most powerful and compressed live tone in Angus career...but it's not best and iconic Angus tone...for me tone by "Let there be rock" movie in 1979 is better by far.
