Origins Of The Madhhab | The Four Schools Of Islamic Jurisprudence

The four schools of jurisprudence in Islam, also known as the madhabs, are Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali. These schools of thought emerged in the early Islamic period and are based on the teachings and interpretations of Islamic law by their respective founders. Each school has its own set of principles and methodologies for interpreting Islamic law, and while there are similarities between them, there are also some differences.

The Hanafi school, founded by Abu Hanifa, emphasizes the use of reason and personal interpretation in legal rulings. The Maliki school, founded by Malik ibn Anas, is known for its reliance on the practice and customs of the people of Medina. The Shafi'i school, founded by Muhammad al-Shafi'i, places a strong emphasis on the Quran and the Sunnah (the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad), and the Hanbali school, founded by Ahmad ibn Hanbal, is known for its strict adherence to the literal texts of the Quran and the Sunnah. These schools of thought continue to have a significant influence on Islamic law and practice to this day.

Correction : Imam Abu Hanifa did NOT live in Persia. He was a Persian (Afghan family) born in Kufa in Iraq & that is where he lived mostly.

May Allah guide us all upon the haq and only the haq. Do dua and ask Allah for guidance. Surely the best guidance is only from Allah. May Allah be please with our four imams. And grant them the highest level of janah in the next life.

There were loads of schools of thought back in those days. Either the students didn't maintain the knowledge, or the documentation was lost. The four here survived, plus a few less well known ones.

Wahab definitely don't coincide with ibn hanbil. Sad to say. The fact that alot of his teachings wasn't recorded the fact that wahab was a able to manipulate it. What is know if that Ahmad ibn Hanbil was a student of Shafiy and they shared the SAME belief. Wahab doesn't

An excellent introductory video. Thank you. Worth noting that some of the ideological beliefs of the Mutazallah (or perhaps more accurately, the khawarj) still exist today in the Ibadhi mathhab widely practiced in Oman.

Did you use an ai generated image for thumbnail? If you did, may I remember you the hadith of the image maker?
‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5950) and Muslim (2109).

The "hypothetical" method you are referring to is known as the Case Study method. All modern law, even Western law, uses this case study method for teaching now. Imam Abu Hanifah (may Allah be pleased with him) invented that method.

3:59 just want to make a correction. Imam Abu hanifa ra was a student of Imam Jafar al Sadiq and Zayn ibn Ali ra alongside Imam Malik. All 4 schools have connections with Jafar al Sadiq
