When they were a restaurant, their food was good. When they became a fast food joint, they cut corners and their food was terrible. its that simple. I remember in the 80s and early 90s you had to stand in line to even get in a LJS. Once you were in it was about a 20-40 min wait for your food since they cooked everything fresh, but man was it SO worth it.

The original menu, when cooked correctly, was great!

When LJS first came out, the fish was twice as big. They would put the crunchy batter bits on the bottom which was fun to eat. Fast forward to 2020, LJ S has revamped i.e. The tartar sauce looks more oily than creamy with not much flavor. Consistency is dubbas. Sometimes it tastes fresh, other times it's greasy. this makes me sad, i grew up on LJS and had it up until my father passed away from Tuberculosis, we had LJS about once a month and i loved the stuff, especially the Cod and Hushpuppies.

i think when they had to switch from Cod to Haddock is when things started to go downhill with them.

I worked at a KFC/Long John's for a couple of years during college. Throughout my 8 years of total food service, it was the worst place I have ever worked. Like the managers and getting hush puppies during break was cool, but the workload, customers and all the grease made it suck.

I went to long John's like 3 weeks ago, it was fresh and delicious. I went a few days ago and the location looks permanently closed. Such disappointment i loved long John's.

I just had it for the first time in a decade. I loved it. They have definitely improved. No, its no bone fish grill. But I was impressed for what I got for a 10 dollar fast food meal.

I had Long Jhon silvers awhile ago... Long Jhon silvers caused me to get SICK! I had diraareha and a stomach ache for days! TOO GREASY!!! NEVER GOING THERE EVER AGAIN! Used to be good but not anymore...plus the AWFUL customer service got mad at us for ordering a family meal.

I have never had bad chicken at LJS, or hushpuppies, or coleslaw. Their fries do not reheat well (they are great in store, but who goes through a meal for four in one seating knowing most of that is for later), but then most fast food fries don't. I absolutely love their food. I wish there was one closer to me. Oh, and when I could get two tacos, two chicken, two hushpuppies, and a personal pizza in one place it was the best. Unhealthy, yes, but done twice a year it's not going to kill you. I don't eat things that come out of the ocean, but I have a friend that loves LJS shrimp, so I do question the bad reviews there. I wish there were more of them. No, I do not work for or own stock in the LJS company, whoever they are owned by now.
