the 90-120 days exclusive window doesn't mean Universal can't release another movie around the same time as Oppenheimer, it means they can't dump Oppenheimer on streaming/Peacock/VOD until 90-120 days after the theatrical release

Doom and animal crossing during 2020 was huge. The duality is lovely.

Funnily enough, as of this morning, AMC reported that the 20, 000 figure for bookings of both Barbie and Oppenheimer has in fact, doubled to over 40, 000. What a time for cinema! You're exactly right about this being an EVENT. There's not really another word that describes the Barbieheimer phenomenon better. I simply cannot wait. I shall see you on Friday night and I look forward to shooting the podcast with you very soon my friend!

One could almost say it looks to be an explosive set of films.

Yes! I'm very much the Oppenheimer crowd but have my double feature booked. Both movies look fantastic and I'm very excited to see the box office figures. Very excited for Barbenheimer

I heard that Nolan cut ties with WB because of their streaming policies after Tenet, so Oppenheimer is his first movie since leaving WB for Universal

WB did this as a middle finger to him since he left for universal ... only to backfire spectacularly.
Barbenheimer Friday, lets goooo!

Edit: i see you touched on this point in your video, but idk if WB can be counted on to make purely logical decisions😂 ill take it with a grain of salt but i still hold this as my main theory

I genuinely dont think ive been to the movies since Dunkirk was released. I think i might go see Oppenheimer, with how spectacular Dunkirk was, im sure Nolan did well with this one too

I'm so psyched for this weekend! We're seeing Barbie first (me and my family) and we're all dressing up in copious amounts of pink 💖💅🏻

yes, studios only care about making money. But sometimes JUST SOMETIMES "it's not about the money. It's about sending a message."
I'm kidding of course it's always about money this is america. Studios are corporations. Still.... people sometimes do things that will hurt themselves if it means hurting their enemies more.
That's totally something a petty, vindictive, senior executive of one of the oldest movie houses would do. Especially when it was to hurt two enemies: an old one and a new one. Bc nolan totally broke their heart and left them for their rival. No, not Disney but UNIVERSAL!
It would have to be a VERY senior exec. We hate on executives - ESPECIALLY studio execs - but ppl don't get to that level if they allow personal issues to influence their business decisions. It does happen though. Sometimes they just have all the cards playing in their favor, AND are ruthless.
The message is "a man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous!"
