I felt like my old dehumidifier helped to make my house feel cooler (despite the heat it puts out by running) because it took that heaviness out of the air. When it was off--which was almost never, it was 80% humidity but about 30% when on. We kept it on all the time and I'd dump it once a day. I think I had a 70 pint one from Hisense and it ran for like 5 yrs constantly. People don't realize how much mold can grow in their walls and attics without one of these. I moved so I need a new one. I have a media and it was given to me. I put it in my basement and turned it on. Worked great, had to empty twice a day as it does turn off. I'm not understanding the LED numbers, i think i changed it lower..it was around 80. But now the numbers jump around 65-70-...not sure what i did. Can you help me? It's a media. What should the panel board look like? (Numbers and settings like turbo). It's in my basement. A stone foundation 180 yr old home. Please help? The cat poop in the litter boxes are looking like a science project!!!! Aaauuuggghhh

Wrong. Dehumidifiers do not change the ambient room temp. Refrigeration systems work on the principal of heat exchange. A dehumidifier, essentially being an AC unit, but without exhausting heat to the outside of the house, is merely concentrating the heat in the room so that the evaporator coil can be cooler than the ambient air. Therefore, all the dehumidifier is doing is pulling heat from the room to the condenser, and releasing it back into the room in a higher concentration. Heat exchange.
