Nothing like this exists in Sweden, my country. The price you see is what you get unless you manage to negotiate a bit to get a discount. You never go higher than the advertised price. Never.

The loophole in the false advertising is that the price they are advertising is the suggested retail price from the manufacturer and not the actual price of the car when purchasing. Because they put the MSRP on it that suggests that it is merely a recommendation and not the final decision of what they are selling it for. It's not a scam. It's a trick they use. How can they put the price on there when they are going to take the highest bidder. They could be selling for 75k they could be selling for 100k. I do think they should tell you on the webpage that they planning on taking the highest bid, and the MSRP is just the reserve or starting bid or whatever.

I remember back years ago, when the PT Cruiser came out. Dealers were asking well over MSRP and people were buying them. Then the people who bought one immediately turned around to sell them for a few thousand more. Just a few months later the value collapsed and those who wanted to sell them had to take a big loss.

If I was you I would probably send someone higher up in Toyota a link to this video. Then ask them how they feel about what these dealers are doing to the reputation of Toyota as a brand?
