As soon as I saw her take out the Wok and the leftover rice, I was like "she won this battle already."

My Great grandma taught me never make Fried Rice Oily... and whenever I try to cook something for the very first time I can still hear her voice in my head coaching me, miss her so much.

This is how hard it is to get Uncle Roger's Uncle Title.

i can relate to this saying of Chopin after watching this video:

"Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art."

Fun fact: the guy who lose is a real well known chef. People had been joking on him about this fired rice scene in the first week of release of this movie.

It was over the moment he got rice from the rice cooker and she took the leftover rice

It’s almost as if the director did this with the intention that one day Uncle Roger is going to see this and meme it to be the most iconic scene of this whole movie for many years to come. Oh yes and not forgetting the countless others who will watch this movie as a result of Uncle Roger’s weejio. It’s a win-win!

The single line of "I want to be special." resonated with me on an emotional level

As a fellow Asian, leftover rice is one of the recommended ingredient to make a better fried rice

This scene is neither too dramatic or shocking, it's just so honest. The first rule of fried rice is that it needs to be dry. That "wet" fried rice of the guy did not need to be tasted

Fried Rice = Speed + Basic check knowledge + Confidence in Simplicity is the Best

It's not just leftover rice. It's leftover rice left in the fridge.
You can use fresh rice as well, but you gotta make sure to let it rest in the fridge for some time before doing so.

Fresh rice is hard to seperate, and trying to do so you'll end up mushing pieces together. A good fried rice is where each individual grain of rice is seperated from each other.

Innovation and luxury ingredients don’t always make better dishes. Proper technique and knowledge staying true to what the dish is.. is always best..

Most people don't realize: the simpler the dish, the harder to cook it well.

This scene is so true! You can been trained through professional and still not understand what true food is like half of the celebrity chefs trying go make ethnic food. They may know cooking but do they actually know how to make it?

The real scene on what actually happens on Asian food tasting / trial when applying for a job. Doesn't matter what school or previous environment you came from, what matters is the knowledge and experience you have learned. All that fancy culinary teaching doesnt always qualify when your employer asks for something you think is "simple". Sometimes, the simple dishes tend to be harder than complicated dishes. I remember when I tried applying for line cook in a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. I was going against an ojt who came from ENDERUN, one of the prominent colleges for the elite in the Philippines. I remember him making a complicated / altered version of Tom Yum without Kaffir Lime leaves and Lemongrass, before our employer let him finish, He was sent home in an instant without question. Our employer was a Thai national and was deeply offended at his performance.

This scene so true and deep. The more commercial any skill become the more creativity and simplicity of the art will loose.

4:47 in this part is true, you don't use perfume/shampoo with scent when you are working in the kitchen, the smell may cause distraction when smelling the food and it will distract other scent

I heard some chef got disqualified because he used a strong orange shampoo scent, the moment he enter the exam site

Even Gordon Ramsay gets owed by many chefs around the world and he is a world-class chef. He has shown to fail to cook Pad Thai, Dim Sum and Kebab properly. Therefore, the guy must know that he might graduate from pretgious school that doesn't mean he can win against some street food vendors who never go to any school but has many years of experience and skills
