My mom got those Shrek glasses. Before the recall, I think I wanted to drink out of one of them when my mom told me they were for collecting. A while after she got the whole set, the recall happened, but she kept the glasses on a high shelf for decoration.

Volkswagen technician here. The top 2 on the list really hit home. We had to perform so many different stages of the Takata airbag recalls.

As a mechanical engineer, I have an opinion in mind about the VW diesel scandal. They were not the only factory that used cheating devices to reduce NOx in testing. But they were caught before and had the worst damage.

Why no mention of the FACT Ford knew there was a danger but calculated it would cost less to pay out lawsuits than it would be to redesign where the gas tank was?

My fave bit about the Ford Pinto story was that Ford looked like their lawyers were going to get them out of the law suit. Until a mysterious brown envelope was slipped under the judges door filled with memos and letters showing that Ford knew all about the problem and tried to cover it up.

I feel as though the Tylenol recall should have been higher on the list. The saddest part, is that it took SEVERAL deaths for the pharmaceutical companies to make tamper proof seals on medicine to prevent further deaths. The person or people involved in the case was sadly never caught...

In 2014 we exposed the concealment of a deadly defect that General Motors kept hidden since 2002. That defect killed my daughter in 2005 and many after. My top goal was to make the cost of not recalling so expensive that GM will think twice about doing that again. That ignition switch recall shown at minute 14:30 suggests we may have hit that goal.

It's fair to say that many of these recalls could have been avoided if their respective companies cared more for the wellbeing of the consumer than making a profit.

Hehe, my sister had an Easy Bake Oven way back in the 80's when we grew up. Suffice to say, it did predict the future. Somehow, she always managed to burn everything she put in there. I have no idea how either. But, usually I could tell if she was using it as I'd smell burnt cookies or cakes. And she still can't cook at all or even make food. Our mother makes a really good item called 'Spaghetti Salad, ' which is basically cooked spaghetti, russian dressing, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, and red onions. It's really good and easy to make. Somehow she managed to make it into this mess of noodle mush with soggy vegetables, and the mush had absorbed all the dressing.

I got one of the shrek glasses at McDonald’s back then, and admittedly, I did drink from them and I have definitely regretted that choice

Those Easy Bake ovens...weren't those supposed to be used WITH parental supervision?

Omg, when I found out of the shrek glass recall, i was eating dinner and actively drinking out of the donkey glass, when my dad got home and told us the news. We threw them away after but I wish I kept it. It would be cool to be one of the few people that still have them.

I remember the Note 7 recall. At first I’m like brushing it off thinking it’s no big deal then I find out they have people returning them in fireproof boxes and gloves.

One point about the Ford Pinto: an internal memo at Ford said it would be cheaper to pay out injury/wrongful death lawsuits than recalling it.

"Do you remember putting your hand in there? So, why are you putting it in there again?" 'Nuff said.

I use to work at an Ice Cream factory and the biggest recall they had in there almost one hundred years of running was because of the Peanut Corp of America Recall. Which also changed there testing of ingredients. They now test them as soon as they come in instead of relying on what they company that sent it said.

I remember when GMC had keys you could pull out and hand the key to the person next to you to unlock the glove box

My heart goes out to the victims of those who died from recalled items. They couldn't enjoy their lives. RIP 🙏
