It might be too late to ask, but I'm very much confused about appearance of "gamma" in the area operator. The surface area has to be an integral over a 2-form (pull-back of the volume form to the surface) and my calculations show that it has to be just "1/2 \epsilon_{IJ} e^I \wedge e^J" given that we have a restriction of triad to the surface "e^I". How does "gamma" enter this calculation?
