For the first setup you can tell that it is a laptop because it has the battery icon at the bottom right. On a desktop it wouldn't have that symbol because it does not run on battery power.

I think it should be said that the second last guy could be using the laptop display for a two monitor setup. This is a very common thing to do, and it means that the laptop cannot be stowed away. His laptop sitting on his desk is understandable.

do you consider setups that are not really minimal physical but are digitally minimal. For example, I've got like core 2 duo laptop solely focused development&programming and core i5 2th gen Thinkpad for school, both of them are in linux. Works for me because it does not really have a lot of distractions in it. I like using old tech, giving them a better purpose.

For Jad's setup, if you can zoom in and see that there is a battery bar on the bottom right of the screen, that means he is indeed using laptop, am I correct?
If there is no battery bar then that setup may be desktop..
