'You swallowed all the lies'...James O'Brien points out that government supporters 'deliberately and consciously' voted to make it 'almost impossible' for Ukrainians refugees to come to the UK. The damage is already done. @gafordyce Tweeted 'I'm constantly astonished by our complete lack of insight into what we vote for. Constantly.' While @susie_dent tweeted a rather funny ''Word of the day is 'snollygoster'
(19th century): an unprincipled person in office who is motivated by personal rather than public gain.

I’m disgusted by the people who voted Tory in this country. I’m ashamed to be British.

Interesting that Rwanda is a neighbouring country to Uganda, but Ms. Patel's parents decided to travel past many safe country´s to come to the UK as economic migrants. Ms. Patel is denying that right to thousands.

There seems no end to this horror of a government. Seems they will remain in power for years to come with the media we have.

"Great Britain". 😂😂😂😂Any country that compliments itself in its own title, watch out! The title now reads sarcastically.

Most of the UK’s current Poisoner’s Cabinet would have us believe that they are scholarly, yet none of them have learned a single lesson from history, it seems.

I'm glad the mantra is truth here . Because people are " allowed " to come to the UK if they choose too, it's just not the same system as it was before when we were a member of the EU .

It's a nuanced position I know, but that's the truth here . Now, whether they want too come ... Is another argument entirely.

About half the current cabinet are economic migrants, including priti patel's father.

Simple question ? Why do charities exist ? To absolve responsibility of the societies that robbed them ., We shouldn't need charities . we need every elitist in every country in the world to acknowledge the countries they robbed should be able to sustain themselves in a decent way . Poor countries exist because they were never given an opportunity to sustain themselves . Why are we not saying that . Eff live aid and band aid - do the ful;l medical treatment and revitalise their economies based on their own capacity to sustain themselves

I would make one correction. In the grand scheme of this it's a detail and certainly doesn't alter the overall point being made, but I still feel it's important.
Out: "jobs British people didn't want to do"
In: "jobs companies didn't want to pay British people to do, given access to an alternative more terrified of persuing employment rights"

I just feel like the magical notion of inherent British laziness doesn't have a place in this otherwise solid stack of logic and reasoning. Everyone's lazy and everyone's hard-working to a reasonably comparable degree no matter where they're from, obviously. Desperation should not be being held up as a quality to admire and aspire to, either. Should be about bringing them up, not bringing ourselves down - that doesn't help them, does it? Our shame, our guilt. Doesn't do a thing for anyone, does it? So what's the point in it? All that inward malaise should instead only be outward ire aimed at the decision makers. I hope commentators begin to remove this element from the argument.
