I'm mad that this is not a game, but at least I found myself a new favorite artist and musician, checked every box in the list for me!

everyone is talking about their deity. nobody is talking about the 'GOING ALONE' option. the badassery of being offered to take any deities blessing and turning it down because you dont want it is something else entirely.

I've played enough Roguelikes to know that completing "Go Alone" is the unlock condition for The Exiled

Plot Twist: The Deity you select will be the final boss.

It's surprising how just an image and a song can inspire people to think of a game that doesn't exist...
And i want to play that game too...

GO ALONE: "Nobody to thank. Nobody to blame. Your path is yours alone."

i would pay good money to see this turned into an actual game

The artist, Kadabura (their link is in the video description) is trying to make this into a game called As the World Ends and they recently finished the pantheon of Gods and their blessings! Give them a look and let others know!

i like that everyone's already brainstorming ideas and making lore for a game that doesn't even exist yet, shows how good it'd be if it were real with this soundtrack

I hope a bored developer see this song and get inspired to make a game that is based on this and work with this dude so we can get more cool music and a cool game

Go alone:
Run start: "This is your story."
Death: "No one else to blame."
Victory: "This is your victory."

"This is not a game."
Oh boy, you don't know how much I wished the contrary.

Now I can only wish for a “The Hope” deity.
No debuffs, but the run itself is intensified in difficulty
“The hardest to hold on to”

The leftmost guy looks like he's about to call me an insignificant fuck and lose to a gopro.

Let's press F for everyone who thought they found a new game for themselves (me included) and respect this muscisian for his incredible work.
Who knows? Maybe it will grow into a game someday. We will see.

I'd imagine beating the game with the "go alone" option would unlock the exiled.

I like how chaos breaks the mold by not facing away from The End. Fitting.

Imagine the "Go Alone" option giving you an achievement called "No Gods nor Masters" if you complete a run without the assistance of one of the deities

Go alone.
"Some deities look at you with slight frown on their faces."
"Some deities are laughing"
"Some deities wishes you good luck"
This is your own story. Fight till the end.

Thirteen choices, decide carefully...

Wander: "Protection for a price."
Start: "You feel a strength not your own."
Death: "Abandoned and betrayed, left to rot."
Victory: "You have made it, rest your feet, wander no more."
Desc: A massive man covered in weathered armor. In his hands he holds a shield bigger than a door, its apparent weight belied by his casual stance. You will find it a daunting task to find a crack in his emotionless helmet. A sane deity, a safe choice. His calloused hand is offered to you.
Card face: a shield

Wise: "Forbidden knowledge."
Start: "Words cannot describe what you know."
Death: "Experience is a bitter teacher."
Victory: "You cannot forget all you found along the way."
Desc: A willowy woman covered in tattered and stitched together clothing. In her hand she holds a book that looks too heavy for her to hold, itself fraying at the seams. Blood eternally tears from her haunted eyes. An experienced deity, a smart choice. Her shaking hand is offered to you.
Card face: an apple

Harvest: "A bounty for the patient."
Start: "Sow the seeds of victory."
Death: "Your corpse will fertilize the next crop."
Victory: "Your body and soul blooms…it is time to harvest."
Desc: A motherly figure covered in albino bark. In one hand she holds a dark scythe, held still in preparation to swing. Her bone white face is smooth and featureless, but stretches back behind her like the branches of a barren winter tree. A rich deity, a greedy choice. Her bony hand is offered to you.
Card face: a scythe

Fool: "Ignorance is bliss."
Start: "Oh joy! A new story to watch unfold."
Death: "It seems the king has grown bored of you."
Victory: "That was quite enjoyable! You'll come again won't you?"
Desc: A laughing man covered in a black and red court jester's attire. In his hand he idly twirls a baton topped with a ringing bell. A silly joke sits on the tip of his sharp tongue. A young deity, a foolish choice. His gloved hand is offered to you.
Card face: a bell

Inspiration: "Let creativity guide you"
Start: "The artist has chosen their tools"
Death: "A masterpiece left unfinished"
Victory: "The last words of your story fulfilled"
Desc: A weeping woman covered in blood. In her hand she holds a broken paintbrush that she swirls through the air. Her face is an ever changing canvas that mortals cannot begin to comprehend. A whimsical deity, an eccentric choice. Her stained hand is offered to you.
Card face: a tragedy mask

Fury: "Let anger fuel you."
Start: "Flare hotter than the sun."
Death: "Suffer not the indignity of ashes."
Victory: "Come, we have more worlds to burn."
Desc: A man covered in burning thorns. His empty hands clench uncontrollably at his sides, closing over nothing but burning air. His face is obscured by his immolation, while his thorns thrash in agony. An uncontrollable deity, a violent choice. His burning hand is offered to you.
Card face: a burning rose

Broken: "The worst has passed."
Start: "Your mind is shattered and your body aches".
Death: "The end of a fruitless struggle."
Victory: "The pain subsides and your wounds fade. Is it over?"
Desc: A naked man covered in bruises, scars, and scabs. In his hand he grips a piece of glass that cuts into his bleeding palm. His face is merely ruined flesh and he cowers in his own shadow. A troubled deity, an unfortunate choice. His scarred hand is offered to you.
Card face: a cracked glass shard

Hunger: "Consume or be consumed."
Start: "Let the feast commence."
Death: "You feel the craving overtakes you."
Victory: "You cannot be sated... continue to feed."
Desc: A starving woman covered in the finest of clothing. In her hands she holds a fork and a knife, looking ready to stab whatever comes within reach. Her mouth is eternally agape, revealing her broken, serrated teeth. An unstable deity, a precarious choice. Her emaciated hand is offered to you.
Card face: a gaping maw

Vengeance: "Make them remember."
Start: "The world shall know your pain."
Death: "You have left scores unsettled."
Victory: "Their blood trails behind, but you feel hollow inside."
Desc: A towering woman covered in loose black and white clothing. In her hands she holds a scale with heavy weights on both sides, both threatening to tip over the other. A blindfold covers her eyes and yet she claims to see just fine. A fair deity, a balanced choice. Her unforgiving hand is offered to you.
Card face: tipped scales

Hope: "The hardest to hold onto."
Start: "The road ahead looks bleak."
Death: "The higher they are, the harder they fall."
Victory: "You have finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel."
Desc: A small young woman covered in white priestly garbs. Her hands grasp each other tightly in prayer, as if letting go would bring ruin. A halo of light surrounds her head and makes her face hard to distinguish. An ambiguous deity, a desperate choice. Her weak hand is offered to you.
Card face: praying hands

Chaos: "Your fate is in their hands."
Start: "Noise fills your mind."
Death: "You finally fall into stillness and silence."
Victory: "The voices deign to speak clearly… listen."
Desc: A mischievous man covered in a skin that looks like a moving galaxy. In his hands he rolls the dice that can decide your fate… if you let them. He wears a mask that somehow moves on its own to mimic facial expressions. A strange deity, a confusing choice. His sleight hand is offered to you.
Card face: a set of dice

End: "Find solace in the inevitable."
Start: "Where one ends, another begins."
Death: "And it's here we meet again."
Victory: "You fought valiantly, so desperate to cling to life. Enjoy it while it lasts."
Desc: A mysterious figure covered by a cloak of unending darkness. His hands are empty, but atop his head sits the skull of an unknown animal, a morbid crown. A void is all that is under his hood, an inevitable promise… unless? The first deity, a final choice. His withered hand reaches for you.
Card face: an inhuman skull

Go Alone: "Turn and leave."
Start: "You take your first steps with none to slow you down."
Death: "As you once began, so you now end… alone."
Victory: "A path few have tread before, step up and join the pantheon."
Desc: It's only you, covered and backed by no deity. Your hands are free, your face determined, your story untold. No debts to owe and no blame to place, the narrow path is yours to walk. A potential deity, a risky choice. Take your life in your own hands.
Card face: empty, make your own
