A trip to the Philippines can be like opening the doors to a secret paradise. This diverse archipelago keeps foreigners coming back for more, there are social behaviors and cultural norms that should not be violated, and there are just a few important things that are more than worth learning beforehand. This will help you avoid the possibility of offending someone directly or ending up on the wrong side of town.

I have put love and effort in doing my videos and rest assured that all of these are enjoyable, and informative to watch. I’ve never ask for money and I never will, but if you still wish to donate my little channel or connect me online - I have put my links below and feel free to message me.

Thank you so much for checking out of me and have a great day!

Theres a way to get around Filipino time. If you want to meet someone at 1pm in the afternoon, just tell them 12 pm noon. It should work out fairly well.

I would say respect. Give and show respect to people. Never flash money around and don't carry much money with you. Likewise don't flash you phone or gadgets about as they will likely get stolen. Some taxi drivers will turn the meter off when a foreigner gets in. Just tell them you want to use the meter or get out and find another taxi. Also be aware of the foreigner price because you'll often be charged more because you're a foreigner.

Ive had friends in the Philippines 🇵🇭 for over 13 years. They've been great friends for that long. Also my daughter inlaw is an American filipina and grandsons are half Filipino.

My experience was backwards. The first Filipina I dated was already here in The USA. However, I was immediately introduced to her culture and family. I'm a better person from the experiences.

The Philippines is one of the safer countries, with the exception of the south where the muslims live and a little crime in Manila. The philippines appreciate tourism, it is a big part of their economy and they know it.

The problem with driving in any larger city in the Philippines is the complete lack of code enforcement, especially motorbikes, and public transportation.

Excellent advice. I am a foreigner who has lived in the Philippines with my Filipina wife and family for the past 4 years. We met in HK 8 years ago and are both middle-aged so there is no significant age-gap. I agree with all you say. We are fairly wealthy, owning property and having business interests and we have a decent income but we do not flaunt it - I wear shorts and a t-shirt all the time and no watch or jewellery (although my wife does love her cars). We live out in the sticks and have a quiet life. I have also lived in a number of different countries. For me, the key thing is to blend in, don't stand out and develop cordial relationships with your neighbours and people with whom you interact, such as the local shopkeepers.

So true Junabel, however I have encountered a few that assumed just because I AM FROM THE UNITED STATES, that I am rich ! Not true ! I have had a few taxi drivers want to charge more, even a van driver ! I did support the locals, and I have enjoyed myself each time I was there ! FYI, if anyone here is new to the Philippines, and you are meeting the girls family, do yourself a favor and try their food ! If you dont eat the family will be offended ! Nice video Miss Junabel !

Be prepared for so much traffic and simple tasks like going to the mall or shopping will take most of the day. Also if you go out with your girl be prepared for her to bring her parents, cousins, aunts etc and yes you will be expected to pay for all. They will also expect some gifts from your country or even chocolate.Always carry just enough money for the day nothing else as there are a plus snatchers and pick pocketers there.

Great advice, and the most important maybe first. Learn about the culture you are stepping into, Bot to avoid problems, but also to get a better experience out of the visit. Thank you for you good work.

There are fewer expats moving to the Philippines than there are Filipinos moving to another country. Because of demographics and global economics expats in the PI and elsewhere will peak in a few years then decline rapidly so I would worry more about the PI losing its' share of expats more than cultural differences. I don't expect anyone other than a trained economist to understand the ramifications of a falling expat community, in simple terms think of an expat as a long-term tourist injecting primarily dollars into the PI economy which is needed to tame inflation for the PI people and provide liquidity for the PI economy. An expat moving to PI is a pure economic win because the cost basis is zero (since the money was earned elsewhere) so everything an expat spends is pure economic growth without the downsides of government or bank driven capital expansion

Foreigners should know by now that English isn't Filipino's 1st language and not expect them to speak it perfectly, even those foreigners who have spoke it all their lives don't speak it perfectly. If you understand WHAT someone is trying to say, then HOW it is said isn't important.

I think Filipino time would be the hardest thing for me. Being retired military, punctuality is a HUGE pet peeve, and think being late is rude and disrespectful. Especially if it was for a date, if she's late she is showing me she's not interested because she wasn't excited enough to be with me, to at least be on time. The same thing with her phone, if she doesn't turn it OFF and put it away when we're together, without having to be told to do so, again she's showing me I'm not her priority. Time is the one thing NO ONE will ever get back, don't let someone else WASTE yours.

I definitely agree with you on immersing yourself into the culture. This is why I say I would want to be in a place with as few foreigners as possible. Being around other foreigners you'll just do what you always have because it's more comfortable. I also agree, you should be respectful to others, and remember, you are ONLY a guest in THEIR country.

Just a tip. Dont read from an auto cue in your video posts, and look directly at the camera to engage your viewer.
