64v is not a lot more than the EGO 56v.
you need a minimum of a 5amp battery in their mowers and the “pro” if you can call them that) comes with a 10amp battery.
these big batteries are not much use on handheld tools.
an ego 5amp battery on a whipper snipper or blower is really only any good for a few minutes or it gets uncomfortable.
if i’m using those tools for anything more than that, i’ll throw on a backpack with the battery in there.
Arborists have been mentioned a few times but i can tell you (i’m one) power to weight ratio is more important than power.
we will always go for the smallest and lightest saw to do the job in front of us.
chainsaws are already maxed out because of the power to weight.
husqvarna have got a saw up to 24 metres per second but that’s it.
it’s a great pruning saw but that’s its limit.
i have the makita 36v top handle saw and it’s heavier than any petrol top handles saw whilst having less power than any petrol top handle saws.
for battery to move into the chainsaw world with larger saws, we need a different battery technology. we need at least twice the power in the same weight.
the Californian legislation regarding petrol tools does not ban petrol tools.
has anyone actually read it???
it clearly says they will ban the sale of petrol tools “where feasible”.
they will just ban the garbage 2 stroke junkers that fail after a year anyway.
the big blowers, mowers, trimmers and chainsaws will be around for a while yet.
as i said (and i’m not up on emerging battery technology) we need a totally new technology to rid ourselves of petrol outdoor tools.
bring it on i say. i bloody hate the things.
they actually make me ill using them.
migraines for days after using a petrol line trimmer all day.

Just got back from the other Makita video. You two sound awfully familiar. 🧐 🤔

The fact that they didn’t give it a battery line name like XGT or LXT indicates to me that this battery isn’t meant to be a big new line of tools.

Some more great news from yesterday’s news 😂

This battery will be excellent for tools you don't need to carry...

I'm probably not the first to wonder if the boards in these batteries will allow them to be connected in series to produce 120 volts. If they do, well, we all know what that means! But, I guess they would need converted to AC. Er... Is there an electrician in the house? Anyone?
