The sad thing is, I was really excited for this movie. Not only is Buzz Lightyear my favorite Toy Story character, but the idea is just genius, making this the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy. I mean, how could you mess this up? And then I saw it, and now I want to forget it ever happened.

Some of my nitpicks would be the fact I remember Pixar describing it as being a big loveletter to scifi movies in general so I was expecting a more grand movie, but it was quite basic sadly although I did enjoy Evans take on Buzz

This is prob my favourite pitch meeting from the new channel, he went all out on this one 🤣 The main problem is that's not even Buzz Lightyear 🙄 And I don't think Andy would've liked this movie tbh

My cranky take no one asked for: the entertainment industry churning out new stories derived from older films/stories while flat out refusing to make them resemble the originals - in tone, character, or content - but still hanging onto the branding for box office clout is sickening. Making LIghtyear the way they did is fine, but saying it resembles anything from Toy Story is just silly. Re-brand it and it instantly becomes something better than it currently is.

I would be delighted to see studios taking risks with original stories (like Everything Everywhere All At Once, Black Phone, Medieval, etc.), OR spinoffs/sequels/prequels that just ooze love and respect for the loved and respected originals (like Top Gun: Maverick, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, etc.). Either of those approaches would be great, but I'm increasingly unwilling to pay money or time for the stuff they've been making.

Enough grumbling for one comment.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I heard a lot of hate with the film but I actually really liked it too. I love almost anything Toy Story related anyways. As a kid I was obsessed with it. I still have a Buzz and Woody toy in my room they're both on display. I sort of wish they based the story more off of the animated Buzz Lightyear of Star Command film. I love the more serious tone on stuff. Too much comedy in a film sometimes gets annoying to Hint hint MCU lol. Anyways, I really enjoyed it too. I do have small complaints about the movie but the things I didn't like I didn't let ruin the experience for me. I liked it and since I collect action figures all the time, I really want the I believe its S.H figuarts that released a really good toy based off the movie but it's expensive but I want it 😂
