Herman is the heart of that house. He is the one that they all go to for advice, the one that keeps them going, the one they all look to when things are bad. He deserves this.

Amazed at the lack of understanding in this comments section. Hermann gets promoted to Lieutenant of Engine 51 yet a number of people seem to think this means he is leaving the show or that Casey is leaving the show. For those who are confused Firehouse 51 is made up of four rigs. Truck 81 led by Captain Matt Casey, Squad 3 led by Lieutenant Kelly Severide, Ambulance 61 led by PIC Sylvie Brett & Engine 51 now led by Lieutenant Christopher Hermann

Herrmann is always so optimistic even when he knows the odds are zero. I remember when Borrelli had to fight Gabby's bro and Herrmann was still cheering him on when Cruz and co were like "Borrelli's gonna die" 😂
