The real reason the "enemy AC-130 above!" is so iconic and intimidating is because in-game it's almost always interrupted by the earsplitting Doppler effect of the 105mm shell and explosion once it hits. Just a real satisfying/terrifying series of events.

The scariest part about hearing these in the game was that it was a bit delayed so whoever had the ac130 always already shot a giant missile that you could hear screaming through the sky at you at the same time the voice command went off. Good times
