You could check for the ip address, but it would better to define what cheating would mean and then look for patterns of cheating between the same accounts. It is always possible to cheat systems, but statistics will always find those who cheat :)

If you created a browser based game, like a text/graphic based persistent MMO or something, how would you go about catching people who are cheating by creating multiple accounts? (assuming one account was allowed per human). Is there any easy way to differentiate between one guy who is a multi and two brothers who both play the game from the same family? I'm guessing you would need some sort of server log or script to compare session data or something?
