Nina Stemme performing "Cäcilie" by Richard Strauss during the final of the 1993 BBC Cardiff Singer Of The World competition.
Today, the Swedish dramatic soprano is regarded as one of the greatest sopranos, able to sing the most challenging parts, including Isolde, Brünnhilde and Kundry, Salome and Elektra, Fanciulla and Turandot.
Since her opera debut in 1989, she has performed at opera houses all over the world, including the the Vienna State Opera, La Scala Milano, Royal Opera House London and the Metropolitan Opera New York (among many others), and has performed at the Bayreuth, Salzburg, Savonlinna, Glyndebourne and Bregenz festivals.
Throughout her career, Nina Stemme has received numerous awards, most recently the Birgit Nilsson Prize in 2018.
