ZOHD Drift First Look • Superb Plane for FPV Newbies

Do you want to get into FPV but you're not sure where to start? Stop looking, you've found the answer. While this is a first look video at the ZOHD Drift, I've had plenty of time to do the shakedown flights of the ZOHD Dart which is a cousin to the drift. They use the same power system, same computer, same camera, they weigh the same, and use the same batteries. I'm here to tell you, the Dart is a straight-up beast of a basic FPV airframe.

Don't be fooled by the diminutive size of the ZOHD Drift either. The ZOHD Kopilot Lite flight controller has proven to be very competent for stabilization and return to home duties. With a 2s 2500MAH LION battery, I'm averaging about 35 minutes of flight time with the ZOHD Dart which weighs the same as the drift, so I expect similar flight time with the Drift. Toss an HD camera into the mix and you've got a competent aerial footage FPV plane with superb stabilization capabilities.

How are you going to fix the tail indexing?

I'll be watching with interest as I have had two of these little planes and have not had an easy time with them. I have watched other set up vids. and try to duplicate what I see others do but with little joy. I will say that auto launch and RTH work well. stability mode feels like I have little control of the plane in both pitch and yaw. I am going to take the Kopilot out and install a receiver to run the servos to make it a fun flyer. Other forums and videos mention that the CG needs to be just ahead of the mold marks in the wing. I hope I learn something from your videos that I have missed in the past.

I have just purchased a Drift and hope you can answer two questions for me.
1) How did you get the collar on the tail boom loose and then re glue it in the correct position ?
2) The instructions with the ZOHD FPV camera tell you that it will rapidly overheat and get damaged. What power level have you flown yours at, and have you had any problems with the camera / VTX getting too hot ?

Vey good video i have both of them i first flew the drift with the stock c of g it was windy and it spin right to the ground in a soya field i recover it and installed carbon fiber strip to the wing the wing profile is tiny and flexible after that mod and move the cg aft it flew great but never flew it again in strong wind conversley my dart fly like a mad eagle it can take strong wind can you please tell me wat kind of battery you use to acheve a 40 minutes fly thanks and keep on the good work

Hi. I'm finally ready to maiden my Drift. Can you please tell me what "clock" position you ended up with for the Aileron and Elevator potentiometers on the KoPilot Lite adjustment board ? Having an idea of where to set the pot's will make my maiden somewhat safer.

Hello I realize this video is three years old but maybe you or someone out there can tell me what receiver and transmitter is needed to fly this plane. For now it sits in my Banggood wish list just trying to gather info before buying. I will be getting the FPV version.

Question in general, how do I calculate the V of the battery, according to the KV data of the motor and esc? And can I roughly calculate the flight time based on this data?
