One of my favorite core memory is about mantı. Turkısh people used to do these mantıs for freezer. They make tons of mantı and put it into the freezer so whenever they want, they can cook it quickly (also for weddings, kermesses, feasts etc.) And most of the traditional burgs do it together. Like they gather each other's house and make tons (i really mean tons, once i remember my mom and neighbors made more than almost 22lbs of mantı.) And when they gather, of course they bring their kids too. I remember playing with my friends next room while my mom and neighbors make mantı. Living away from home for five years, this made me felt homesick.

When you said "I can't learn without trying" that was just truly something I needed to hear, very encouraging tbh, keep up the awesome videos and thank you for those words of wisdom as well ☺️✨.

Finally a Turkish dish and a very good choice! As a Turkish, believe me your mantı looks way much better than many you could find here 👍

Mantı is one of my great loves from Turkey. Well done for making these by hand and so small!

Please make lussekatter! They're Swedish saffron buns that are eaten around this time of year. My mom and I have tried several recipes over the years until we developed our own recipe, and that one makes the best buns I've ever eaten. I don't have much in common with my mom, but we both love baking, so creating such an amazing recipe together makes me feel a little closer to her <3

My mom was born and raised in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan in the USSR, so I grew up eating monti (манты). But the monti I had were about two inches in diameter and steamed in a special stainless steel stacked steamer that definitely isn't sold on Amazon (maybe now it is, lol). It's dumplings but filled with ground beef, pork, and sometimes chicken with Vegeta (a spice found in most Slavic households), black pepper and minced onion. Before folding and pinching the dough up, a piece of butter is place on top of the ball of meat.

It's delicious with sour cream (of course, I'm Slavic, sour cream is as important as lingonberry jam is to the Nordics) and paprika (and some more butter if you want).

I'm Iranian, but I ate manti in Türkiye, it's a time-consuming dish and it takes a lot of effort, but it's worth everything and it's very tasty. Each manti is a hand-wrapped gift, baked, boiled, and then generously topped with not one, but three divine sauces—brown butter, caramelized tomato, and garlicky yogurt—making every bite a rich, indulgent experience. 🥟🇹🇷

The dish that makes me happiest are Kluski Śląskie i Kaczka (Silesian Dumplings and Duck)
It's not a traditional christmas food but my family always made it for that time.
It's made with a duck that in an oven thats pre-heated to around 180 degrees. You season the duck and throw it in the oven to roast for 2 hours.
In the meantime you're gonna boil some potatoes (4), and after they're boiled you will chill them down for a second, add an egg and around 150g of flour. This should form a nice dough. You then roll that dough into nice lil balls, stick a finger in it to make a lil hole, and boil for 10 minutes.

Allow them to rest and cover them in melted butter.
Take out the duck and carve yourself a nice portion of that duck.

Then, cover that with a nice sauce :
1 cup of pork bulion.
2 cups of water
2 cups of flour
and salt and pepper for taste.

You can boil or fry some carrots for that sauce and enjoy.

It's warm, tasty, has a great texture and always brings the best memories out of christmas for me.

If you'll try it (by any chance) enjoy your meal!
