Thank you Emmelie. What a great strength it must be to be multilingual! The fact that you can read the French alongside the English translation and make your own comparison. This is such a great ability to have! 🙂

While the work has its roots in the past it certainly has qualities belonging to a cinematic age with some astounding imagery.

I partially agree about the lack of depth in the characters, but i don't know if is the style's fault, because is written as a chronicle (that usually has not emotional development) and yet nothing in the story would happen if the personality of each character were different; Christine propensity to believe in spirits, Raoul's young and imperfect volatility, Richard's untrustworthiness, Erik's lack of knowledge about love and correspondence. I saw it through the dialogs, but not through the narrator.

I agree, The Phantom of the Opera and Notre Dame de Paris are very similar. I love both books with a passion. ❤

This is a book I’d never pick up by myself. I loved reading it and discussing it with your cosy bookclub ❤ I enjoyed it

I prefer The Mystery of the Yellow Room by the same author, that said I have a bias towards mystery novels

I have The Phantom on my list to re-read soon, but I've been in a slump 😞
Interesting info about firefighters irl using the lake for training!

I read this book two years ago and absolutely loved it. I randomly picked it up at a local library, and when I told my husband how much I loved it, he recommended The Hunchback from Notre Dame, which I loved even more!
I love the way you described the book. I 100% agree. 😁

Hello Emmelie! I hope all is well with you and your family. I enjoyed your video, especially the topic of the falling chandelier 😀. I also enjoyed the bio on Leroux and the opera house. For some reason, I always think that PoTO was written in the early 1800's which obviously is not true. I don't know why I keep thinking that. Comparing it to The Hunchback was also interesting. Keep making great videos and I look forward to the next one. Have a great week!

I have always meant to read this but have never done so. Like others, I have only seen the musical, but you have motivated me to read it. Thank you!

I'm a huge admirer of the musical, which is the reason I never came to reading this. What do you think of it? :)

Will you ever read fantasy books like stormlight archive, farseer trilogy by Robin hobb, book of the fallen by Steven Erikson, etc.
Why or why not?

This Video's thumbnail was good. Not being rude or anything but I think I can make better YouTube thumbnails for your videos, I am sure of it.
As your channel grows you will be needing it. (Not that I am anyone to suggest, its just that I have been watching you for a time and this change just striked me and I thought I might as well tell you..)
Just sincerely wanted to make a thumbnail befitting you

If you are interested then please let me know.
