Arik Einstein - Uf Gozal (Fly Fledgling), English Subtitles

Marking a year since Arik Einstein's death.

Uf Gozal (עוף גוזל) tells about the "empty nest" feeling of parents when their children leave home. Following Einstein's death, the departure described in the song received a new meaning. The first two lines of the chorus were carved on Einstein's grave.

The song was released in the 1987 album "Al Gvul Haor", which was the last of 5 albums created by Arik Einstein and Miki Gabrielov.

He is still missed. Many years ago a man approached my husband and asked him if he had a cigarette. My husband ignored him. Someone came up to him and asked him, "Do you know who that was?" My husband said, "No." Told him it was Arik Einstein. He hadn't recognized him. He ran to him - he happened to have some cigarettes on him tho he didn't smoke and wanted to give him the whole pack but Arik said No - just one.
