Step-by-step instructions to neaten the last stitch of a bind-off the easy way

*Note: As an Etsy & Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When you bind off (or cast off) stitches in knitting, the last stitch often is a bit too loose and forms a little ear. That's because the edge stitches are often wider and are not anchored as securely. But there is an easy way to prevent that.
By knitting the last stitch together with the left loop of the stitch one row below, you form a much tighter edge. You can also knit the last stitch together with the right loop for a similar effect.
And then you can bind off the regular way, cut the yarn, and pull out the last loop all the way to form a secure little knot.

I just followed your instructions for the final b/o of my new linen scarf: bingo! Beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing this tip. I'll use it every time, from now on.

I heard from your channel through a crocheter: Debbie - Canadian crocheter started to knit and mentioned your channel. Now I am on your 2. channel and this is genial. Thank you for all your work, for your exact explanations your slow motions, etc. Its not easy to find a channel - (I love your 1. channel the same !!!) with continental knitting in English. I am from Austria, my first language is german, but to understand all the vlogs or to know all about in english is so helpful.
Years ago I knitted with the help from youtube with elizzaa - but she died this year. I really cannot watch her videos right now. So thank you for your work ! (and sorry for my bad english - I am just learning english, crocheting and knitting ...)

Your videos illustrate the techniques clearly. Thank you.
BTW: Have you done a video illustrating the “tubular bind off for 1x1 ribbing “ on a flat piece?

Hi Norman. Your videos are the ones I always go to for knitting techniques. However, I can not find the one where you showed how to cast off at the end of a row for armholes for example. It involved doing something clever with the yarn. I wish I had written it down. Can you guide me to the video please ?
