I love these videos, ETA, don't listen to the haters! The latest mini-PC improvements are awesome to keep track of.

ETA, I would LOVE to see some local Ai tested on these APUs/NPUs moving forward...namely... please test with some local LLM and local image generation. I promise that it'll add a whole new world ofr content to your videos and you'll get the Ai crowd watching. Personally, I'm dying to see the difference in performance between the Ryzan 7840HS and the new 8840HS in terms of a 7B or 13B LLM model with simply chatting back and forth with a chatbot (offline) on the local PC. Thats my main use-case for buying one of these is for dedicated and offline Ai usage. Thanks in advance! :)

I hate to say this, but I used to really like this channel because the focus was on getting the biggest bang for your buck with emulation, like cell phones under $100, office PCs turned emulation machines, and the occasional "all-out" showcase with an i9 build. I spent a lot of money over the past few years based on recommendations, and not once did I feel ripped off. This channel showed me that my i9 machines were not needed to achieve emulation of virtually every console and home computer up to Xbox 360 and PS3. In fact, an i3-1215u laptop can be purchased for under $300 that will make that happen (so can a i5-1235u laptop or Ryzen 7 5800H, both of which can be bought for less than $300).

Now, everything is the best he's seen, there are typos in virtually every video, and while this isn't your fault at all, the tech is all pretty much the same (example: what's the difference between one Ryzen 7 7840u handheld and another, other than the brand?). I think Retro Game Corps has kind of taken over as the emulation go-to, with Wicked Gamer and Collector (and his other channels) taking the best bang-for-your-buck approach.

It's a shame really. I'd like to see this channel return to what it was a few years ago.

I like that they have a full size Displayport jack. DP is so much more versatile than a second HDMI.

Dude.. 2 weeks ago this was my favorite channel. Now it's literally an Amazon search for "Mini PC" 😂😂

This channel is all about quantity over quality...nothing but a cash and swag grab. Permanently blocking to save myself from getting a video twice a day every day!

the problem with these reviews is that the benchmarks are not standardized so you could compare these systems.

All complaining about the same videos about mini PC's. But it was so nice ETA Prime brought to us this kind of content. Many of us couldn't have discovered this wonderful option.

The title has a typo - says 8840hs instead of 8845hs.

Looks like an interesting machine, thanks for reviewing!

Does anyone own one of these now? Can you attest to whether or not it thermal throttles or overheats yet while gaming or pushing it? I may want to buy one but I don't think the cooling looks as nice as the Beelink SER7? My backstory is that I purchased two Beelink SER7s and installed Proxmox on them...Things were going great. Then I decided to add a 2nd NVME so I got a nice WD Black 2TB and installed it, and immediately I started getting flooded with pcie bus errors on both SER7s. After many hours of searching on the web, it seems like SER7's purchased in 2024 (recently) are having this issue...there's a work-around to turn-off ASPM in the BIOS or kernel, but now I'm paranoid there's other hardware issues that I don't want to find out the hard way after my return period is over. (I've tried multiple NVMes by the way). It could be a BIOS issue, but at this point I'm tempted to return my two SER7s and try this GMKtec K8 since it has a better APU than the SER7 anyways, and I DO want to use this with GPU passthru for Ai tasks (yes, the SER7 / Ryzen 7 7840HS and 8845HS is actually really good for running local Ai stuff so far) from my testing with the 7840HS. It's a shame though, because I can't wait for the SER8 to release, and I do find the overall quality of the SER7 to be fantastic aside from the fact that I hate the magnetic proprietary charger on it, and this lame PCIe issue with power management that I'm dealing with. If this GMKtec K8 gets by fine with no heat issues though, then I'll gladly return my SER7s and upgrade the APU. If anyone can please help, that'd be great.

The fastest $800 mini pc reviewed this week. The content on this channel is getting more and more predictable by the day.

Thanks for the 7840HS comparison! It's too bad there's no Oculink like the Elite mini.

Can we see the performance of this APU on something like Tekken 8 since there's a demo?
Of all the fighting games to put in these vids right now, T8 is definitely something to check out for GPU-less setups.

Amazing mini pc, I want to see the 8940hs but this is good enough for me.

I just got mine, this machine is a beast and i love it, but one difference compared to the review, mine comes with Solidigm P41 Plus QLC nvme drive without heatsink. Gotta replace that with 3D TLC drive, not comfortable to use QLC drive as Boot drive tho.
