#istanbulcity #july2022 #istanbulvlog The Arasta Bazaar on the southeast side of Istanbul's Blue Mosque is worth visiting for its many shops selling carpets, kilims, Turkish tiles, apparel and souvenirs.

The Arasta Bazaar is among Istanbul's most-visited tourist markets.

At its northeastern end by Mimar Mehmet Ağa Caddesiare several open-air cafes, snack stands and restaurants, one of which has highly-amplified Turkish music until about 01:00 am.

Here you will find a selection of traditional handicrafts: carpets, ceramics, textiles and jewelery. But there are also various oriental spices at the Arasta Bazaar.

The marketplace, built in the 17th century, was originally intended to be used for the stables of horses of Ottoman rulers. Over the years, the area was severely damaged by fires and rebuilt. In the 1980s, the first shops gradually opened. Since then, rental income has been used to maintain the Blue Mosque. The Arasta Bazaar is an oriental market where you can also shop on Sundays and a variety of traditional souvenirs are offered.
