This is the Twenty Seventh in several episodes discussing the things i've learned from Barry Harris I started studying with Barry in 1993 and still learn from his teaching every day. I hope I can use this channel to help other musicians who are interested in Jazz but find it a little too cerebral. I think Barry's method, while being cerebral, is also direct and most important beautiful. Please Subscribe and feel free to comment below on how I can improve this channel I'm available for skype lessons if you prefer.

I know Barry just thinks of this as movement, but the first 2 chords with the movement make a I-vi-ii-5 progression. On the C chord, moving the B to A makes A minor, and on the D minor, moving the C to B makes G7 (no root). In Bb, this could be the first 2 bars of "I Got Rhythm." The rest of the scale would be E minor-C (iii-I), F-D minor (IV-ii), G7-E minor (V-iii), A minor-F (vi-IV), Bm7b5-G7 (vii-V). Yes, I'm overthinking it, and should just see it like Barry, as movement!
