🐟 What is Omena?
Omena, also known as dagaa or silver cyprinid, is a small fish commonly found in Lake Victoria. It’s packed with nutrients and offers a unique flavor that pairs perfectly with various ingredients.

🍽️ Full Recipe: Omena
Ingredients:
2 cups dried Omena (cleaned and rinsed)
1 medium onion (chopped)
2 tomatoes (diced)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon ginger (grated)
1 green chili (sliced, optional for spice)
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Fresh coriander (for garnish)
Water (as needed)
Instructions:
Soak the Omena: In a bowl, soak the dried Omena in water for about 30 minutes. This helps soften them. Rinse and drain.

Sauté the Aromatics: Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced green chili. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes: Stir in the diced tomatoes and cook until they soften and break down, about 5 minutes.

Cook the Omena: Add the soaked Omena to the pan. Stir to combine with the tomato mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. If needed, add a little water to create a sauce. Cover and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.

Final Touches: Once the Omena are cooked and the flavors meld, remove from heat. Garnish with fresh coriander.
